NORTHern REPRESENTATIVE

Johan Willhelm Antonius Scheer (bear)

Bear was born in 1958 in Rotterdam, Holland and emigrated to Australia at 4 months of age. From there it was a move to  Lomboc, Indonesia until he was 8, finally settling in Queensland where he grew up.

His first job was fishing for mudcrabs at the age  of 10.  His family life wasn’t a happy one and Bear left home at 14 managing to finish his education on his own.  He continued life as a fisherman for around 25 years.  He then moved to Tasmania and continued to fish but found it a little bit cold.

He is a self-confessed ‘loner’ and found he was becoming even more reclusive until he joined the Exeter Men’s Shed and he has never looked back.  Bear is multi skilled and can fix almost anything.  He has 4 trades including Skipper, Mechanic, Engineering and Spring smith.  He is 64 and his Jack Russell Sprocket is his constant companion.  He is thriving in his role as a TMSA Committee Member and Northern Representative.
